Former doctoral student heads PUCP graduate programme

Victor Saco, a former PhD student at the World Trade Institute (WTI), has been appointed the new Director of the Master in International Economic Law programme at the Pontifical Catholic University in Peru (PUCP), a partner of the WTI in the SECO project.

He took up the appointment in September, as successor to Prof. Manuel Monteagudo Valdez.

In a letter to the Managing Director of the WTI, Prof. Joseph Francois, Dr Saco said he would be pleased to continue the path taken by Manuel Monteagudo and enhance cooperation between the PUCP and the WTI.

Victor Saco, who was previously a faculty member at the PUCP, joined the WTI as a PhD researcher within the SECO project that aims to build academic capacity in Peru, Chile, South Africa, Indonesia and Vietnam.

His research focused on the relationship between water and international investment in mining in Peru.
