Connie Ewen completed her Bachelor of Laws with a personal focus in international law at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand at the end of 2020. She has been a registered Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand since March 2022. Prior to joining the WTI Connie worked for the Auckland District Court as a criminal case manager for jury trials and an Issuing Officer for the enforcement agencies of New Zealand and during her undergraduate studies she worked for a number of Kiwi owned retail businesses. 

Connie has a strong sense of community and duty to upholding the Kiwi values that have been instilled in her throughout her upbringing in New Zealand; she was a volunteer firefighter at her local station while in the beginning stages of her degree. Connie was part of the service team with the first female Volunteer Station Officer and worked to help represent and foster female influence within community service projects. She gained an array of skills during her time with Fire and Emergency New Zealand while completing her law degree and she wishes to continuing representing women in her community and volunteering in the future.

Connie’s focus on international law during the later stages of her degree, and from her studies in political science and EU integration decided to continue her studies with a Masters in International Trade and Investment Law specifically with the intention to pursue a career in international investment law after achieving her LLM and DAS at the World Trade Institute.

In her free time Connie enjoys hiking, exploring new environments, as well as reading and cooking.
